Before becoming a pastor, my family and I attended Embrace Church, in Sioux Falls, SD. Adam Weber, the author of “Talking with God: What to Say When You Don’t Know What to Pray” and the new book “Love Has a Name” (available August 25, 2020) is the lead pastor there. It was at Embrace where I finally followed my call to pastoral ministry and started the journey of leading a church replant where we are a network church of Embrace, meaning that we use their messages a portion of the time. So I approach this book knowing Adam as both a pastor and as a colleague. In his writing, his teaching and his in-person interactions, Adam is humble and points to God with what he says.
In this book he easily could have told us all the stories about how he has loved well, but instead, Adam shows examples of ways he has been loved well and ways in which he is learning to love others. Moving this book beyond just a feel-good novel to read over Chicken Soup, Adam has paired this with examples of loving relationships in the Bible, so we can see not only how Jesus has taught us to love, but to see how the Bible can be lived out in our lives today.
If you are looking for love…this book is for you.
If you wanted to be reminded there are still loving people in this world…this book is for you.
If you want to love others better…this book is for you.
